Mostly potential spammers set up by bots I expect.
I used to clear 'em out once in a while, if they hadn't posted anything after a time but I haven't bothered lately.
I also gave up on trying to recruit new members some time ago.
I think most people that use discussion forums like an environment where they they can all agree with each other, congratulate each other on how right they are, and how dumb the other lot are and pat each other on the back. Gives em a nice warm feeling.
Which perhaps, goes some way to explaining why this one, which was supposed to provide a forum for discussion across political (and other) divides, has not grown as I had initially hoped, but after four years I don't suppose that's likely to change much now.
C'est la vie. I'm happy for it to continue as it is. |

I also get the impression that politics and current affairs is of no interest to an increasing number of people. Come to think, what passes for conversation is them talking at you about themselves. |

True enough.
That and "celebrity" gossip (which really really irritates me by the way) |

so it's not just me then! And I hate the celebrity gossip too, although it tends to be something they read about (the only thing they read) - they wouldn't dream of reading a book |
