From the Akkadian Empire, to the Mongol Empire, the Roman Empire, the USSR, and the British Empire, they all had their day and they all, without exception declined and eventually failed. So it will be with the American Emprire. Some might say it's decline has already started, but whether or not that's true, the decline and fall will inevitably come. And, of course new Empires will rise. The next ones may come from China or India or perhaps even from the EU (God forbid), and of course, in due course, these will decline and fall in their turn. Now doubtless Tex, you'll disagree, call me a fool or some such and generally rant on like the ignorant redneck that you are (or at least that you adopt for your on-line persona) but, as you're fond of pointing out, facts are facts and as usual, the facts here disprove your argument. If one counts the British Isles as Western European, then as best I know my descendents have been living here for 1000 years - if Prof. David Miles is to be believed, most of them have been in Britain since the last Ice Age. I'm no racist (I am a culturalist - and some are clearly superior to others), but there are some points that are made and seen when one looks at the success of some areas and not others. The problem is that there are a large number of differences within races. Among those of European descent, we have the Celts, Germanic tribes, Jews, Normans, Francs, Romans, Slavs, Finns, Gypsis, Scandinavians, and Greeks - and combinations of them.

The problem is that there are a large number of differences within races I agree, and I think it's silly to deny it too, there are clearly (generalised) differences between different population groups of people, just as there are between individuals. I'm not saying superior or inferior mind. Just differences. For instance, the Maasai are taller than the Baka. I'm not saying superior or inferior mind. Just differences. And I think that's ok and I think it should be ok to discuss it too. What I don't think is ok is to use these differences to discriminate against an individual or group or to try to pretend that they are inferior because of it. You can make a case for certain aspects of a peoples culture being better or worse, of course. For instance we Brits tend to overdo it with the booze as opposed to, say, the Spaniards, and sometimes behave badly as a result.

Spartacus Gypsies are from South Asia. They are Caucasian, but not of European descent. My mistake there. Ashkenazi Jews (German) and Sephardic Jews (Iberian) are of European descent (Mizrahi are Middle Eastern). A culturalist belives some cultures are superior to others. Culture is the environment one lives in and chooses to live in. It can be chosen or adapted. Race can not be chosen and is genetic. Culture is not exclusive to race or ethnicity.

How peculiar that one race of people originated spontaneously in three different places. Or did it originate in different places at different times? With all these complications, "Culturalism" must be a difficult philosophy to live one's life by. :wink: Spartacus
