Rana:
Good looking dog.
BIGTEX is a big-time dog lover. He is sad to report, however, that about four weeks ago he lost his fifteen-year-old bulldog to old age and a brain disorder.
Here on the ranch, however, BIGTEX has other dogs that assist in the various duties inherent with running a large spread. They are valuable assets.

BIGTEX is a truly awe-inspiring paragon of truth, justice and the American way. I am so in awe of myself that I can scarcely believe the lofty heights of virtue, knowledge, education, courage and wisdom I have attained; accordingly, referring to myself in the third person helps keeps me rather well grounded and more able to communicate with littlepeople.
And he's so modest and self-effacing too

You know Tex... I couldn't almost see myself warming to you.

I suspected that you weren't driven by modesty.

BIGTEX quotes the late, great "Dizzy" Dean:
"It ain't braggin' if you can do it!"
Spartacus- 08-04-2008
On the other hand, didn't someone once say, "Egotism is the anaesthetic that dulls the pain of stupidity” ?

The person who said that was an envious, shallow littleperson, no doubt.
By the way: Those Ethiopians have REALLY made the most with their alphabet, have they not? BIGTEX fully expects the next generation of supercomputers and a bona-fide cure for cancer to be developed in that nation quite soon . . . NOT!
Civilisations have a tendancy to run in cycles, the Axumite Kingdom was certainly more advanced that Europe of the time...it's just accident of history that we happen to be alive at the point where West-European derived civilisation is "on-top"; a few hundred years ago and the Arab-Central Asian Ottomans would be been far above us. Come back a few years hence and it will be somebody else's turn.

Yeahboy!
That Axumite Kingdom was REALLY a stunner, was it not?
Hint: Stop grasping for straws. It belies the futility of your attempted refutation of BIGTEX.
Remember: About 90% of everything worthwhile ever invented or discovered was done so by a Western European - and in only less than 1/50 of the existence of recorded civilization.
WOW!
Hint: If you're a Western European or of Western European descent, BE PROUD OF THAT FACT.
If you are not, be ENVIOUS of us.
It takes a great deal to impress someone of the stature of BIGTEX.
The Axumite Kingdom doesn't do it.
Nor does any other ancient, irrelevant agglomeration of primitives.

Fair enough - a small man who needs big things to impress him.
Anyway, my point is that give it a few years and some boorish Kazakh, Namibian, Argentinian or whatever will be sitting on this board's successors saying "who cares what that crappy little U.S. achieved". It's just an accident of history that we're around when our countries are on top.

You are a fool if you truly believe your last post.
You are obviously not of Western European descent, or, in the alternative, have some pathetic reason for your self-loathing.
What a pity.
