Worst In The World
There won't be time for a proper blog today, but we must just record an eye-popping chart recently published by the OECD. It shows their estimate of the fiscal deficit each of their members will clock up this year (as a percentage of GDP). And as we can see, we are at the very bottom of the league.
THE VERY WORST GOVERNMENT DEFICIT IN THE DEVELOPED WORLD.
You should remember this chart next time you hear Brown/Darling or one of their media apologists telling us we are helpless victims of an international problem. The reality is that we are worse placed than anyone else - including basket cases like Ireland and Iceland.
Once again, Labour have flown our public finances into the mountainside.

Just as I would have expected. It shows hosw much we are "best-placed for economic recovery ....
I would be interested to see how we stand in balance of payments tables, too.
We have heard practically nothing about this since Labour came to power, while it used to be one of the well-publicised key indicators, pored over by the pundits to see how badly we were doing .....

I suppose one could argue that the UK is 'best-placed for economic recovery' in so much as getting that chart back to zero would be an incredible recovery, and would show Johnny Foreigner what British backbone was all about...

Yes, just as Gordon Brown is best placed to lead Labour to a historic landslide victory next year and condemn the evil Tories to another decade on the political wilderness.

Strikes me that there are quite a few more countries in the World - only 32 listed here. (or am I just being a spoil sport?)

OECD member countries this is, which it regards as the "developed countries"
But yes, there are some notable exeptions, China & India for starters.
Nice to see you back on here Rana.
