Yes, Nicky was very unimpressive - but I think Straw was less than magnificent, too. Griffin did not seem to strike a single echo in the audience, who may not have been hand-picked to pillory him, but they might as well have been for all the difference it would have made.
Must have been a most unpleasant experience for Ole Nick, surrounded by so much hostility. But the fact is, he couldn't cope with it.
If the object of the exercise was to throw light on BNP policies then it failed completely. No one really wanted to hear what Nicky might say. It was just an opportunity for a collective howl of hate.

It was just an opportunity for a collective howl of hate.
It was indeed.
And I have to say I found the program disappointing.
A procession of people shouting "RACIST!" at someone (even Nicky) is not a political debate however you spin it.
That said, Nicky is very familiar with "howls of hate". They've been his stock in trade for years, so he shouldn't have been particularly shocked to find himself on the receiving end.
You live by the sword, etc etc etc.
Of course there is still the issue of immigration to be addressed and I don;t think last nights program will go very far to achieving that.

It is worth while having a quick trawl through the comments on the Daily Mail site.
Yes, I know the pompous chatterati think no one intelligent would be seen dead with a copy of that august journal, but the fact is Mail readers tend to be of the middle middle classes, who constitute the majority of English voters.
If the posted comments are anything to go by, Nicky's "martyrdom" at the hands of the "impartial" chairman and the other panel members did not go unnoticed by the Man on the Clapham Omnibus, who seems more likely, rather than less likely, to support the BNP. Some even pledged to join the party and donate cash ....
Hardly what the Bumblebee and the Man of Straw hoped for, but there we are!

Lets not all forget that the 'panto' of question time was just that. Its all theatre to create division and argument in the general public. Meanwhile out of site off radar..
...the banks continue to steal trillions
...The Dollar is dying
...Britain is bankrupt
...The right-left theatre of politics is a paradigm. Its not real. Theyre puppets to lead the sheep, theyre all chums behind closed doors. Our real masters control the money supply, they have the real power. Bout time people woke the f*ck up!

Really? How & who from?
...The Dollar is dying
Is it? It's weak for sure, but dying?
And even if it was, what has that to do with the UK economy?
...Britain is bankrupt
Quite correct.
Gordons fault of course
I don't blame him at all. I do think the whole thing was a charade designed to demonise him.
He may well be a demon! But that doesn't make the process fair or reasonable.

Just watched it - didn't think I could get I-player.
About like expected and similar to the last time I watched it many years ago a Tory MP was the one ganged up on by the rest of the panel and the audience.
Back to the thread ....
Maybe Nicky DIDN'T "balls it up" at all. ITV reported that a poll now puts the BNP on 20% in peoples voting intentions! (of course, this did not figure in the BBC news for obvious reasons). Wouldn't that be more than the Lib Dems?
So who "ballsed it up"? Straw, Dumblebee or the BBC? It certainly does not appear to be Nicky .....
