Thats what the EU wants anyway. Thanks to Devil’s Kitchen for the tip. I wonder if the Devil can point me in the direction of his cardiologist. The use of the word suspected makes my blood boil. Banned from the Internet - a service pretty much key for someone to function effectively in modern society - for being suspected of file sharing. It beggars belief. Then compound that by them only wanting “authorised” applications to be run on the net. Jesus fucking christ. It’s both totalitarian and unworkable and like all such measures won’t actually stop anyone who really wants to break the law in this way from doing so. File sharing? Encrypt your files. Oh though wait. That’s suspicious isn’t it? God help you if you’re sharing data with a client. Of course you could always pop a couple of CDs in the post HMRC style… The fact that this can even be considered in the EU convinces me that we need out. Now. Being generous you could say we’ve got cretins in charge but realistically lets face it: we’ve got a bunch of Stalin’s in charge. Totalitarian fuckwits who want us to grovel at their mighty all knowing feet. Fuck that. You have to wonder at what point a line is crossed that will cause people to, for want of a better word, rebel. I’m pretty sure that this kind of invasive monitoring and effective censoring of the Internet is the line for me. Though fuck knows what can be done. But tell me - how is this any different to the Chinese approach to the Internet? It’s not. It’s the fucking same. I’m more tempted than ever to join the Libertarian Party. Christ knows no one else is standing up for our hard won civil liberties from a political point of view (and don’t give me any of that David Davis crap). No I don’t think they’re going to be in Government any time soon but I think to effect change you have to work with the system to an extent as opposed to simply railing against it. You have to wonder if the brave men and women who fought in the last World War would have bothered getting out of bed had known that we’d blindly slip towards this totalitarian EU. Christ its depressing. Update: Rereading the second half of my post I was tempted to say I’d overcooked it but no, fuck it. This is serious stuff. Our civil liberties are being chipped away at day after day, month by month. When people do get a choice the powers that be just rephrase the question and ask and ask again until they get the answer they want. The would be dictators of the world have found a far more effective approach than a full blown revolution because with a nice docile population and salami tactics no fucker realises it until it’s too late.
