For balance, let's make sure both sides of the story are told. Earlier in the article Gator quoted from there is another eye witness report.
In a sworn deposition, Damali Ross said that he, Flanagan, Dana Marshall and some other mutual friends were inside the Pizza Pub around 3 a.m. eating pizza when a group of males, who were boisterous and swearing, entered the establishment. “The males began yelling about Obama and being derogatory towards (sic) him,” Ross said. “We all said that he is our president now and he is our leader, so deal with it. Words were exchanged but we got over it.”
Moreno’s group left the Pizza Pub to head back to campus when Marshall and a male from the other group began arguing outside. “Angel stepped in between and all of a sudden their group came running out of Pizza Pub,” Ross said. “A short male” who was later identified as Flanagan, first smacked Moreno in the face with an open hand, Ross said. Then Moreno went after Flanagan and Flanagan allegedly punched him in the face.

So from the above it could be that the injured fella was actually trying to break up the fight?

Of course not - he upholds the constitution and the election of Barack Obama, therefore he must be a trouble-making, sleazy ne'er do well...apparently.

The Soldier is the one that made the oath to defend his country. The college student is nothing more than some weak minded puke ass Left Wing shit that decided he didn't have the time to serve his country during time of conflict.
There is no credibility issue here as far as I am concerned. However, it is interesting to see some of my fellow posters on FB take the side of the Left Wing college student instead of the Soldier. So much for "supporting the troops".
I always give the troops the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. After all they are the ones that made the decision to serve their country. The Left Wing college student made the decision to sit on his pathetic ass while other made the sacrifice for him.

How is attacking his fellow citizens defending his country?

So, Gator, you think that the only way to serve your country is to join the military? Nobody should study to be doctors or lawyers or technicians, etc.?
There are many ways to serve your counttry.
During WW1 a man was walking along the street when he was given a white feather for not being in the military. This is a symbol of cowardice. The reason he wasn't in the military was because he was a farmer growing food to help feed the people. None of us can live without food. He was serving his country in a major way.
In war time, especially, everybody serves their country in different ways. If we were all doing the fighting we'd soon run out of ammunition, never get any mail and eventually starve to death.
You have to see the bigger picture.

You may be the one missing the bigger picture here.
I think it says a lot about a young person when they make a decision to serve their country during time of conflict.
It also says a lot about somebody that passes on that opportunity.
I think we saw who the real patriots were in this post 911 world. At least in my country.
The Afghanistan veteran of the 10th Mountain Division clearly proved that he is a Patriot by his service. The Left Wing Obama voting college puke proved to me that he was a chickenshit with no convictions.
At a time when our young men and women are being asked to sacrifice how could that college punk pass on serving and still look at himself in the mirror? The answer is simple; he has no morals or sense of duty. He doesn’t have a clue what this country is all about.
I worked in the defense industry for many years. Many of my fellow workers were veterans of the Armed Forces. You can serve your country and then go make ammunition. You can actually do both if you join the Reserves or National Guard.
Have you ever read the book “Starship Trooper” by Robert Heinlein? I like the government model as described in the book. You don’t get to vote until you have actually served. That way only the people that actually sacrificed for this country get to participate in the government. If you have never made a commitment and took an oath to defend the Constitution then why should you get a voice in government? I would love to see the Constitution amended to state that only those people that have earned their citizenship by serving in the armed forces be allowed to vote. It would go a long way towards disenfranchising those people that are raiding the treasury for their own personal gain.

Actually he was defending himself. At least that is what he and his fellow soldiers are saying.
I chose to believe the veteran's account. If you want to believe the Left Wing college student's account then so be it.
I always give my fellow veterans the benefit of the doubt.
The veteran had the moral convictions to serve his country in time of conflict. The weak minded college puke decided someone else could serve while he attended the Left Wing college lectures and voted for an American hating scumbag like Obama. I think it is a no brainer on who to believe.

I reckon there's a lot of mileage, in that idea, Gator.

You will always have dickheads like John Murtha but I think all in all we would come out better in the deal. Much better.
There was a poll done of military people prior to the election. They were 70% in favor of McCain over Obama. I'll go with those odds any day.
I also know it cuts both ways. For instance, I am very disappointed that neither of the Bush girls joined the military after 911.
If your princy guy can serve in the military then the Bush girls could have done their part.

Even though the Republican Right comes out of the deal badly?
Wonder how the vote would have gone if it had been McCain v Wes Clark, for instance?

Wes Clark is considered to be a first class moron by many Americans.
We do a pretty good job of screening our Generals but sometimes an idiot slips through.

A pity that so many of your Right Wing politicians and pundits were chickenhawks and limited the selection.
I'm sure that Rush Limbaugh would have made a wonderful five-star general if it hadn't been for that ingrowing hair on his butt.

The term "chickenhawk" is wasted on me.
I have just as much distain for Dick Cheney not serving as I do for any Democrat, like Biden. In fact Biden did everything he could to stay out of the service during the draft.
What really is disgusting is that America chose a draft dodger like Clinton over a war hero like Bob Dole. This year they chose a scumbag that didn't serve over a war hero like McCain. That just shows what idiots my fellow Americans are.
Again. I like the "Starship Trooper" model and that would mean that many Republicans, along with almost every Democrat, would not be a citizen.
The voting base of the Democrats are mostly inner city shits that couldn't even pass the entrance requirements to get into the Service, like not being a convicted felon or addicted to drugs. Many of them never even finished high school. I am sure your Liberals in your country are the same, mostly uneducated and on the dole.
