So not 10,000 then
Far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders was met by angry protesters today when he arrived in the UK after winning a court battle to enter the country. Around 40 Muslim demonstrators gathered near the Houses of Parliament as the MP, whose film Fitna criticises the Koran as a 'fascist book', arrived in central London. Brandishing banners saying 'Shariah is the solution, freedom go to hell' and 'Geert Wilders deserves Islamic punishment', the protesters were held back by police. Keep on punchin', Bulldog - we can't be reminded of these things enough. Whatever one thinks of Mr Wilders - and I certainly wouldn't start a fan club for him - isn't it a sign of the times that his visit was feared because it would create unrest (I've already forgotten what the exact convenient terminology was). But it's OK to be a militant friend of Islam, live freely in a nice North London pad and plan all sorts of terrible mayhem. Terrific, eh? And all this crap only goes back to the late fifties - the merest blink of an eye in time. I didn't agree with many things that dear old Enoch uttered, but it was downright criminal to label him as 'mad' after the Rivers of Blood speech. Strange how his surviving contemporaries never really talk about that any more, eh?

Attendant on the meeting organised by the Lord Pearson were some jovial young chaps in the street. They were making the most of their right to freedom of speech, cheerily waving banners saying "Shariah is the solution, freedom go to hell" and "Geert Wilders deserves Islamic punishment". They then kindly advised us all of the superiority of Sharia law, playfully suggesting that those who did not agree should have their heads detached from their bodies. Our tireless constabulary patiently mediated, to ensure that these young chaps were given every opportunity to express their views – something previously denied to Mr Wilders - and the BBC diligently recorded their message for onwards transmission to a wider audience. The Home Office, meanwhile, said a final decision would be made on whether to appeal against the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal's decision to allow Mr Wilders into Britain to purvey his hateful creed, the man whom the Muslim Council of Britain has so wisely described as a "relentless preacher of hate". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=det7TUsLy8U&feature=player_embedded# http://eureferendum.blogspot.com/2009/10/geert-wilders-in-town.html

Whilst I have no problem with Enoch Powell, I might not always have agreed with him, but he was one of very few men in Parliament who actually said what he thought, and had unimpeacheable integrity.... The real problem is due to one we have caused. We keep dropping bombs on places like Afghanistan and Iraq, and they really do not like it - cos it results in their wives and children having their arms and legs blown off. It also creates Millions of Refugees who can still walk... So they follow the adverts... Come to the UK. If you are homeless, we will house you. If you are hungry, we will feed you. If you are really poor we will give you some money. If we didn't drop bombs on them, they would never have heard of us, and just be getting on with their lives as farmers. The more bombs we drop on them, the more they will come here. If you don't like it - then make Peace with them. Stop dropping bombs and say - We will pay loads of money for your Opium crop, because our population is getting really old and ill and when in the last few days of our lives some of us will need Morphine to allow us to exit gracefully, rather than screaming in pain. http://mindprod.com/politics/iraqwarpix.html Tony

Incidentally, I happen to know for a fact, that the insanity in the US has spread to many hospitals in the UK. In the US, some terminal medical facilities, the equivalent of hospices in the UK, have been raided and the medical staff arrested for using morphine to relieve terminal pain. Whilst I am unaware of any such arrests in the UK, some hospitals are exceedingly reluctant to use morphine in cases that are completely appropriate for fear of being prosecuted. Whilst hospices don't appear to have this issue, and from personal experience of close relatives I would thoroughly recommend them, some hospitals do. A close friend of mine had to go ballistic with the medical staff, in order to get appropriate pain relief for her mother who was dying in agony. And she knew exactly what she was talking about, because she had been teaching the subject for the last 20 years. Ten years ago this was not a problem in the UK. Whilst I accept the entire World has gone mad, denying morphine to the dying when they are in such horrendous pain, is cruelty beyond belief. Tony

Four years ago I was able, after a bit of a struggle with hospital staff, to get morphine for my father. If it hastened what he and I both knew was inevitable, I am glad for that. I remember as a small girl being told of events surrounding the death of my grandmother in hospital in London in 1951, who was dying of cancer. The hospital had phoned my Uncle, who was the main contact, to tell him that they were going to administer a large dose of morphine, and that it would signal "the end", for which they felt the family should be prepared. I can only imagine that it was a bit controversial for those times, so I don't understand why it appears to be so difficult today?

I think my old man's end was slightly hastened by morphine too. A good thing imo.

Back to Gert .... Explaining his views on Islam, he said: "I have a problem with the Islamic ideology, the Islamic culture, because I feel that the more Islam that we get in our societies the less freedom that we get." And who could possibly disagree with that? We have seen freedom of opinion and freedom of speech eroded here - and no doubt more is to come.

But I suppose we should really welcome the fact that were just about 40 of these idiots, rather than the 10,000 we were promised by Lord Ahmed (wasn't it he?)

Maybe the muslim hordes were collecting their benefits that day?

Bulldog- 10-21-2009

Maybe the muslim hordes were collecting their benefits that day? What? All of em? Does the benefits office operate a separate day for Muslims? If they do then that's probably discriminatory and they may very well have a claim.

Bestbear- 10-21-2009

Isn't it pensioners on Mondays, and so on? Maybe Gert picked a lucky day! I suspect the real reason for the poor turnout is that Gert meanly gave little advance information out, although it would be nice to think our peace-loving Muslims are getting a grip on the others!

As a matter of balance, I think I should also point out that my sister who had taught Nursing at the highest Level in the UK, refused Opiate pain relief during the 2-3 years (maybe more) that she was dying of Lung Cancer (She had NEVER Smoked) 10-15 years earlier, I spent about 5 years smoking rather a lot of cannabis, whilst making rapid progress in my career- but I had given it up completely because it eventually made me incredibly silly - and they wouldn't let me back into work - until I had given it up 100% My sister siad, there is no way I am going to take morphine or any Opiate Based Shit. Her Mind Was Still Alive, and She didn't want to be turned into a Zombie during her last few years of life. I couldn't possibly mention to her, that she might try Cannabis for the first time in her life, and she had No Idea that her very successful daughter had been taking it since the age of 15. Neither did her husband... So I asked him - ask her for a bit - and ask your Wife - if she would like to try it, just to soften her pain... She never admitted it to me, but came to see The Fireworks with a Massive Smile on Her Face and was happy until the final few days of her cancer kicked in and killed her. She was killed by Procainamide (Prescribed) that she took for nearly 30 years. I told her she was mad - and that it would kill her - cos that was what the label said on the tin. I declined. I was 19. She was 13 years older than me, and I was actually very close to her and had massive respect for her. Tony
