"V"
They started a new series on TV here in the US called "V" last night. It is a remake of a 1980s series about aliens invaders that try to make humanity think they are here to help but really are going to destroy the world. Did they air the show in the UK? It was actually very anti Obama:

Not seen any trailers or other publicity for this but no doubt one of the channels will have picked it up. How was it anti-Obama?

Bestbear- 11-04-2009

They did show "V" here, but I'm darned if I can remember it. To remember "V" you need to be old enough not to remember it .... if you catch my drift!

It has some good Alien Pie in it.

The show talks about the bad guys preaching: Hope and Change "savior"/"leader" worship For a minute I thought you might add something like: Oh yeah, at the end of the pilot, there is a scene where you can hear the alien leader in the background speaking over various intercoms to his minions (in an almost boastful manner), "It's not God bless the Earth, Nooooooooo it's God **** the Earth! It's in the bible! Oh yes....the Earth's chicken's..........are coming hooooome.......to ROOST!" Though the trailer has been out for over a month, I haven't been drawn to it. I did not see the original series in the early 80's that this version is based upon and at first glance it looked like a spoof of Independence Day (not one of my favorite movies). As to hot alien babes, I prefer the blonde Decepticon who stalked Sam in Transformers II. Whew! That'd melt the butter in your biscuit, until she changes that is. For our British cousins, they (like me) may feel a stronger pull to the upcoming release of "The Prisoner" (Nov. 15 here in the states) a remake of the 1967 classic on AMC. I was a bit of a Patrick McGoohan fan in the 60's and since they've cast Magneto/Ian McKellen to portray #2 I'll be watching with much anticipation. Perhaps the Brits can draw their own parallels to life under the Labor government. :?

Forget stupid American TV series and instead Watch The English Film "V For Vendetta" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0434409/ The futuristic tale unfolds in a Great Britain that's a fascist state. A freedom fighter known as V uses terrorist tactics to fight the oppressive society. He rescues a young woman from the secret police, and she becomes his unlikely ally. Written by Siriuslydead Adapted from David Lloyd's graphic novel of the same name, "V for Vendetta" tells the story of Evey Hammond and her unlikely but instrumental part in bringing down the fascist government that has taken control of a futuristic Great Britain. Saved from a life-and-death situation by a man in a Guy Fawkes mask who calls himself V, she learns a general summary of V's past and, after a time, decides to help him bring down those who committed the atrocities that led to Britain being in the shape that it is in. Written by ameelmore Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked vigilante known only as "V." Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he detonates two London landmarks and takes over the government-controlled airwaves, urging his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about V's mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself - and emerges as his unlikely ally in the culmination of his plot to bring freedom and justice back to a society fraught with cruelty and corruption. Written by Alex W In the not too distant future, Britain is filled with torture cells, unfair punishments, prejudice against minorities. However in the mist of all this chaos, one man known only by the name V dares to stand up to the government and is labeled as a terrorist. One night V rescues a mild young woman called Evey Hammond and an unlikely bond between the two emerges which results with Evey becoming Vs ally. But though V may be charismatic and have a passion for justice he also is bitter and has his own personal hatred of the government for something they did to him long ago. As November the 5th, the day V says he and those who will follow him will stand up to the government once and for all approaches, Detective Finch becomes more and more determined to uncover the truth about V, however his search leads him to ask to question whether or not he is on the right side. Written by x_babyangel In this obscure and Gothic tale, adapted from David Lloyd's graphic novel, one attractive girl, Evey gets involved accidentally in a terrorist attack, perpetrated by a masked and megalomaniac character, V. V is following the same steps of Guy Fawkes, a sort of terrorist of the XVII century, who wanted to blow up the English Parlament in London. However, in the present time, the Orwellian London lives under the fascist government of chancellor Adam, and V will fight against his regime, using the power of powder, blowing up important buildings. Evey will be chased by the secret police, thinking that she's the accomplice of V, who will accomplish Fawkes' mission of destroying the Parlament on the 5th of November, in this mixture of The Phantom of the Opera, George Orwell's 1984 and Batman. Written by Alejandro Frias From wiki... "To film the final scene at Westminster, the area from Trafalgar Square and Whitehall up to Parliament and Big Ben had to be closed for three nights from midnight until 5 a.m. This was the first time the security-sensitive area (home to 10 Downing Street and the Ministry of Defence) had ever been closed to accommodate filming.<17> Prime Minister (at the time of filming) Tony Blair's son Euan Blair worked on the film's production and is said (according to an interview with Stephen Fry) to have helped the filmmakers obtain the unparalleled filming access. This drew criticism of Blair from MP David Davis due to the content of the film. However, the makers of the film denied Euan Blair's involvement in the deal,<18> stating that access was acquired through nine months of negotiations with fourteen different government departments and agencies.<17>" Tony

Forget stupid American TV series and instead Watch The English Film "V For Vendetta" y Actually I did see that movie. It was absolutely one of the most idiotic movies I ever saw in my life. Not only was the story line silly, the acting terrible but the characters totally unbelievable. It was a waste of time. The English should stick to doing whatever it is that they do good (drinking beer in a pub?) and leave movie making to others that know what they are doing.

"The English should stick to doing whatever it is that they do good (drinking beer in a pub?) and leave movie making to others that know what they are doing." Hmmm... obviously not a view held by one of Film's greatest directors, Stanley Kubrick, who made many of his films in Blighty. Mo

I rather like V for Vendetta. Can't see what's wrong with it personally...
