'Duncan' then asked a very cheeky (and by 'cheeky' i mean 'obvious') question about Stephen. personally i never understood the logic of it: Stephen, for the period i was on the board, never seemed to be in awe of any political veiw or figure (except perhaps Maggie), and yet he fell for the dubious talents of DogSpu*k and ArseStar - utterly bizaare...

My view of conservatism is that it is, first and foremost, the political expression of genuine liberalism How can conservatism be "genuine liberalism"? then it would be liberalism rather than conservatism. I realise that both 'ideologies' have changed and developed different sides and forms over the years, but they are different ideologies. Which is not to say that conservatism does not involve the love of liberty, rather that liberty and liberalism are fundamentally different concepts.

Yes .... As usual, I stand corrected by you, TJ! Perhaps "libertarianism"? But that word, too, may have the wrong connotations. Tell me what I should have said, for you know exactly what I meant!

I'm astonished that they got rid of qudnunc though. He was their main poster and co-moderator. I expect that, given long enough, the mad cow will ban herself. Quid was utterly indefatigable in his postings. No sooner had you prepared a response to one, than there were ten others waiting to be read. He must have spent his entire life browsing through on-line news sites! But the last thing he - or she - wanted was a critique of their posts or their views. I am astonished that anyone at all posts there, but there are still some of the old guard who have not migrated, it seems. Basti, Air Warrior ... who else? I quite expected Basti to be Timmied. He spoke up in my defence. A shocking crime on ST!

Quidnuncs version of events Email forwarded by "Duncan" (email addresses deleted to protect the guilty) What happened to quidnunc. Sunday, 21 June, 2009 6:35 PM From: quidnunc To: Duncan Here's what happened. Aerostar started posting nitwittery about Barack Obama not being eligible for the presidency because he wasn't a natural-born citizen. Se started a lengthy thread on the subject and I attempted to post a reply three times rebutting her argument. She deleted the reply each time, so I deleted her thread. Se sent me a hot message and I sent one back observinf that she had been slipping over to the kook side. She persuaded Steven to make he co-oener of the forum and then downgraded me from moderator to ordinary poster. That's when I bowed out and deleted all my posts. quidnunc This email has been sent from quidnunc using a form at the URL below, which hides your email address from the email sender: http://sterlingtimes.websitetoolbox.com/

Looks like the Judean People's Liberation Front has seriously fallen out with the People's Front of Judea. Spartacus

You're absolutely right. Aerostar would have made a superb Stalinist.
