Ayatollah Ali Khamenei backs Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in address
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei backs Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in address at Friday prayers Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has given strong backing to the hardline victor in the disputed presidential election but was forced to acknowledge 'tensions' among the elite in the Islamic Republic. By Damien McElroy, Foreign Affairs Correspondent Published: 11:00AM BST 19 Jun 2009 Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared that the election in which Presidential Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was controversially declared the winner was "over". In a clear endorsement of the incumbent presdident, the Supreme Leader said that his own views were closest to Mr Ahmadinejad's vision for Iran's foreign policy than that of any other candidate. In a long sermon at Friday prayers at Tehran University, he also warned demonstrators that they must stop their daily protests. Telegraph Story Persia could be in for some interesting times ahead...I think you can all imagine what my suggestion would be.

What would that suggestion be?

My guess: The restoration of the Peacock Throne and coronation of the Crown Prince?

My guess: The restoration of the Peacock Throne and coronation of the Crown Prince? Does anybody have a better idea? The Qajar Dynasty, of course, it was their removal which lead to the revolution of 1979.

The Qajar Dynasty, of course, it was their removal which lead to the revolution of 1979. Ah! You have me there, TJ! Is there a pretender waiting in the wings? I think the last Shah had a son, Reza? I may be mistaken. But either dynasty will do!

I tell you what though, you can say what you like about Mad Mullah Khamenei, but he's got Nu-Labour sussed out hasn't he... "... the most evil of them is the British government...."

I may be mistaken. But either dynasty will do! Yes there is. The last Shah's son is somewhere in America, but I can't claim to be a fan of the Pahlavi's - their installation on the throne was a bit of British Imperial adventurism, and caused (over the years) growing resentment which caused the fall of one of the most ancient thrones in the world...so I'd avoid Reza Pahlavi. The Qajar pretender is Mohammed Hassan Mirza II, whom I believe lives in America.

Thank you TJ. That long-standing British Imperialism is the reason why Iranians regard the British Government as the root of all evil. Gawdelpus if they get THE BOMB :!: :!:
