Here I am marking, with Panorama in the background, trying to enjoy my evening. BUT WHAT THE HELL!?? I am forced to write a blog that has little to do with education. What is it with these holier-than-thou programmes 'uncovering' the terrible tactics of the 'big bad guys'? This time, it is all about debt. The monstrous capitalist companies are forcing people to pay back their debts! How evil. How dreadful. How inhumane. How dare these companies insist that people actually repay their debts! How dare they expect people to do what they promised. And what do these people do when they are being pursued? Let me tell you... They research various legal acts and then realise that by using loopholes they can force these evil companies to abandon the debt! Basil and Amanda Rankine, a couple from the land of free money, owed over a hundred thousand pounds. Why? Because they enjoyed the nicer things in life and decided to take part in them, in spite of not being able to afford them. But does Panorama view them as responsible for their situation? Of course not! Well done to Basil and Amanda for getting one over on these horrid capitalist companies! They got them to write off over 100 grand! Hurrah! What a success! Do these people not have souls? Do they not have pride? WHAT KIND OF BLOODY WORLD DO WE LIVE IN??!! I am so angry by this programme, I'm not sure I can make it to the end... They just had this guy on who refused to pay his debt. So the company sent round someone to sit outside his house and make a judgement on how much it was worth. Panorama's man then asks the man how it made him feel... What does he say? It was a violation! A violation! I mean, WHAT THE HELL?? And why does it feel like a violation? Because this house isn't just his house, it is his HOME. Oh yes, silly me. I wonder why he didn't think of that before he bloody well decided to fritter away thousands of pounds of somebody else's money! And then do you know what the next scene shows us? This guy, with a perfectly straight face, explains to the Panorama man that he owns 4 other houses! Whether or not the person is capable of repaying the debt is of no consequence. Companies are evil. Individuals are good: even those individuals who waste other people's money. I mean, am I crazy? Is this not madness? No wonder my kids think they don't have to work for anything.
