Minor instances of hypocrisy
You really could have seen this one coming: The head of the Green Party wastes more energy at her offices than any other party leader, according to a new survey. An audit of MP's offices measuring heat loss found the workplace of Caroline Lucas pumps twice as much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere as the average family. She came bottom out of the four main political parties , prompting accusations of "hypocrisy" because of the Green Party's policy of encouraging other people to improve energy efficiency. I suppose we should be grateful to Caroline Lucas for doing her bit to combat global cooling; after all, she is only emulating her Nobel Prize-winning cousin from across the Atlantic. Who can forget Al Gore's tireless contribution to the cause of carbon emission? I can't find it in myself to be worked up about what is, after all, utterly unimportant. The only thing worth taking from this inconsequential example of political class hypocrisy is the timely reminder that the guiding mantra of these people is not "do as we do", but "do as we say". http://mreugenides.blogspot.com/
