One thing puzzles me: this national extinction applies to all the other nation-states, too. How come none of them care?

I don't think the EU is an "embyonic state". I think it has now come to full term and been born into the world, with the Irish voters, Gordon Brown and other national leaders, all acting together as midwives in the confinement suite. If Cameron and the Euro-Tories don't see that now then they will certainly discover it in the years immediately ahead! :roll: The only bright side is that Blair did not manage to buy the Presidency with billions of pounds of our money.
