Do we need some new forums? It was suggested to me a day or so ago that now we're getting a little busier, it might be a good idea to split the forum into a few more relevant headings.
I'm a bit loathe to do this as having one main forum does make it easier to manage and moderate, but I do see that now we're getting more new threads posted every day (which is good by the way so don't stop!) it's becoming a bit more difficult to sort through for threads of personal interest (plus we're seeing a few duplicate threads popping up, which isn't a problem really but does add to the confusion)
So, what do folks think?
Leave alone or tinker with it?

Re: Do we need some new forums? It would certainly be easier to keep up to date on a given subject if the main forum was divided into different topics.
The other two forums you have on civil liberties and UK party politics are good, but they are niche subjects and so they attract very few threads compared to the main forum.
Plus the index page for the site would look more impressive with more forums than it does at the moment.

We have been here before, Dog, and it did not really work. Let's leave things alone. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

I have to say I agree with "Blair lied..." on this.
We are averaging about a screen of active threads a day, which makes it very hard to see what has been posted over the last few days on a topic.

I think some different topics would be great!...sorry bear! :D

Ok, I'm going to try some changes.
To begin with I'm deleting the "Business Cards" forum (moved the existing posts in it into the min forum though) as no one uses it and adding and Iraq/Afghanistan/Iran forum as we seem to be getting a lot of those lately. I'll also move some of the more recent posts on those topics over to that new forum.
Suggestions as to other changes I could make will be welcome, don;t want too many but if there are topics that seem to be getting a lot of threads I'll set up forums specifically for them.
Also, we don't really want to spend lots of time moving threads between forums, so if those posting new threads could be mindful of where they put them it would be appreciated.
We already have a "Politics" forum and a "Freedom" one which are hardly used. I'm giving some thought as to what should actually go in these with a view to redefining them.

Bulldog,
In the title of the Iraq/Iran/Afghanistan forum, the word Afghanistan is spelt wrongly.

Just -*test*-('")ing!
Glad to see you're paying attention and spotted my "deliberate mistake" ;)

BTW, I'm interested in how this government are eroding our civil liberties, so I'll be posting articles on this in the relevant forum.

yes I noticed that you've been making good use of the other forums. I'll try to do the same from now on I think.
I originally set up the "politics" one for discussion of political subjects, ideology & what not, but it never really worked out like that. So we may as well use it for posts on anything referring to party politics I suppose.

My opinion is that in addition to the existing forums there should be a new forum for foreign news and the Free Britannia forum could then be used for UK news.
This should significantly cut down the number of threads in the renamed Free Britannia forum and make it easier to digest.

Yes, I agree with that

I've been toying with that idea, but I'm not sure if we get enough purely "foreign news" threads to make it work. Many of them are relevant to both the UK and other countries.
But I'll set one up and see how it goes.
